
Popular Fast-Food Chain Suddenly Closes Illinois Stores Permanently
Families looking forward to their favorite fast-food meal after work today were disappointed when they discovered 'CLOSED' signs on the door.
According to a post on the Loves Park Neighborhood Watch Group Facebook page, at least four locations of KFC restaurants have shut their doors for good.
A letter posted on the door of the Auburn and Kilburn Street KFC location had a headline saying 'CLOSED' and provided the following statement to customers:
We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your loyal support over the years. It is with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of our store. We understand this news may come as a surprise, but we feel it is the right decision for us at this time. We want to thank each and every one of you for your continued patience and understanding during this transition period. Your support has meant the world to us and we are truly grateful for all the memories we have shared with you. Warm regards.
According to reports on social media, the following KFC locations in Illinois are now closed:
- Auburn and Kilburn, Rockford
- 11th Street and Barnum, Rockford
- 173 and West Lane, Machesney Park
- North State Street, Belvidere
A post from a former employee on the Machesney Park Neighborhood Watch Facebook page also confirmed the four KFC closings in the Rockford area,

What's the Closest KFC to Rockford That's Still Open?
A call to the Elgin, Illinois KFC around 10 pm got an answer from employees who said their location is still open but was about to close for the night at 10:30 pm.
Hopefully, they'll still be open tomorrow (Tuesday).
2 KFC locations in downstate Illinois have also been reported closed, according to a report from Central Illinois Proud.
