Pizza Delivery Vehicle In Illinois Towed With Child Inside

A child was still in a pizza delivery car in Glendale Heights, Illinois when it was taken away by a tow truck.

I see it all the time around Rockford.

A pizza delivery person is bringing an order up to someone's house.

They aren't going to be there long, so if there isn't anywhere close to park they flip on the hazard lights and park illegally.

I don't have a problem with that as long as they aren't blocking traffic. I know it's going to be a quick stop.

A pizza delivery driver in Glendale Heights, Illinois thought the same thing but it didn't quite work out like he planned.

According to abc7chicago.com,

"An 11-year-old boy with Down syndrome was inside a vehicle that was towed while his father delivered a pizza to a mosque in west suburban Glendale Heights Friday afternoon."

Every Friday, he brings an order for pizzas to this location.

There was an event going on at the mosque so he couldn't find anywhere to park. He just pulled into an illegal spot while he quickly brought in the food.

The man's son was at work with him that day. He has down syndrome, so he left him in the car.

A tow truck arrived to remove the illegally parked car.

The boy is unable to communicate verbally and was scared, so he wouldn't get out or the car.

Even though someone tried to stop him, the tow truck driver took off with the child still in the vehicle.

He eventually let the son out down the block.

Luckily, there was a witness to the incident that helped the young boy.

The operator of the tow truck was charged with endangerment of a child and reckless conduct.

No charges were filed against the father, but I wouldn't go giving him any awards anytime soon.
