Two Beloved Rockford Area Ice Cream Shops Drop Exciting News for Summer 2025

Now that spring break is in the rear view mirror everyone is thinking about summer fun, which often includes stops at out favorite local ice cream shops.

It's official, spring has arrived in Illinois, and all of our favorite spring and summer activities will be beginning soon!

This week my daughters start soccer and softball practices, and I can already hear their pleas to stop for ice cream afterwards. My family has several different ice cream spots we like to visit in the summer, and with a calendar full of sports games over the next couple of months, I thought I better check to see when all of our favorites open for the 2025 season.

As I started my research I quickly discovered Dairy Depot in Loves Park has not announced an season opener date yet, but Dairyhäus in Rockton, Cattle & Cream in Cherry Valley, Sips & Sprinkles in Belvidere, and The 3rd Street Station in Pecatonica are all already scooping up delicious treats. I also saw two more favorite ice cream shops announce some big news for the 2025 season.

Important Announcement From Two Rockford Area Ice Cream Shops

Let's start with the good news first; Union Dairy in Freeport officially opens for the 2025 season on Tuesday, April 1, BUT (here comes the bad news), one of their favorite flavors is going away.

Willyum's Dari Fair in Rockford hasn't officially announced an opening date yet, BUT they do have a new food truck that will debut in the parking lot at 2813 Kilburn Ave. sometime in April!
