Opening Date Announced For Rockford’s First Rooftop Bar

It's about time, Rockford will soon get it's first rooftop bar.

I'm shocked that the Forest City has not had one. Even the small town of Sycamore has one that I often frequent, when the weather is nice.

WIFR-TV is reporting that soon you will have a chance to kick back and enjoy a drink or two and a meal outside, at a higher elevation.

Renovations continue at the bar, which will be located on 214 E. East State Street, near city market and will be housed in a building that has been empty for over twenty years. The establishment will be called "The Standard on State"

The rooftop bar will be enclosed in glass, so patrons can enjoy the rooftop and the scenery all year round. You can keep up to date on the renovations and progress on the Standard's Facebook page. The place looks cool!

The Standard will open up June 23 for a fundraiser for a RAMP fundraiser.

This just just the kind of development Rockford needs to revitalize downtown. Let's hope this is the start of a new trend!
