A retired Army brigadier general from Byron will be the keynote speaker at the dedication ceremony for the new Ogle County Fallen Soldiers Memorial.

Steve Huber was deputy commanding general of 1st Army Division East and commanding general of the Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix in Kabul, Afghanistan. Among other roles, he also served as deputy chief of staff for the Multinational Division-Central South in Iraq.

The Ogle County Fallen Soldiers Memorial is located on the north side of the Ogle County Courthouse. According to the Dixon Telegraph:

Also speaking are retired Brigadier Gen. Bruce VanderKolk of Oregon, Ogle County Board Chairman Kim Gouker and Oregon Mayor Ken Williams.

Sculptor Jeff Adams, owner of inBronze Foundry in Mount Morris, who designed the sculpture, which depicts a soldier kneeling before the grave of a comrade, will be recognized.

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11.
