A New Summer Spooktacular Is Happening in Oregon, Illinois This Weekend
Calling all Halloween lovers! Forget waiting until October to unleash your inner ghosts and goblins, Oregon, Illinois is brewing up a hauntingly good time your family will love this weekend called "Summerween"!
The Best Parts of Halloween
As a kid I loved Halloween, and I still do as an adult for two big reasons; dressing in costume and eating candy.
The only thing that slightly irks me about Halloween as an adult is that I spend a lot of time and money to prepare costumes for my kids that they will only wear for a few hours, but this weekend they can have an encore in Oregon, Illinois.
'Summerween' in Oregon, Illinois
This Saturday, June 29th, Oregon is throwing their first Summerween bash which is all about celebrating Halloween with a sunny twist!
Summerween will feature:
- 6 different locations to play fun summer games like sack races and Super Soaker target practice.
- Trick-or-treating (in costume!)
- An "Ate a Man Alive" candy pickup race
- A watermelon eating contest, a candy weigh-in, and more!
Summerween will begin at Noon on June 29 at Oregon City Hall (115 N 3rd St) where you pick up trick-or-treat bags and punch cards, then last until 5 p.m. and many different businesses throughout downtown Oregon. Ready for the best part? It's free to attend, but you do need to register in advance.
Some of my favorite family memories happen during fall and the Halloween season, so Summerween sounds like the perfect way to create some more spooktacular memories during the summer...or at least tide me over until my favorite season, (fall), returns!
