Big changes in Illinois this week. The biggest by far is the legalization of Marijuana. Besides legalization of adult use, people with non-violent convictions caught with small amounts of marijuana will have ability to petition and have their record expunged. That means over 770,000 people in our state will have the conviction expunged completely off their record.

Small charges like this have prevented people from getting gainful employment and it can forever hover over their heads all because they made a small mistake. I feel this is definitely a step in the right direction for our community and state as a whole. By next year we will see a big boom of new jobs in the retail area as well as farming and even the culinary industry.  When it comes to taxes, a 10% tax will be put on products containing less than 35% THC and a 25% tax on items that have more than 35% THC.
