New Drive-Thru Holiday Light Show Is Just One Hour from Rockford
I made a Christmas ornament yesterday that said, "2020, the year we stayed home", and I felt an odd mix of disappointment and excitement while making it.
Like it or not, the way we celebrate Christmas will likely be very different this year. Traveling to celebrate with family may not be an option thanks to COVID-19, and I'm willing to bet a lot of our favorite holiday traditions will look very different in 2020.
That being said, I'm choosing to relish the new traditions we can make this year with our families. With big parties and events not on the table, it allows us to spend more quality time with those we hold dearest. We can also take advantage of new, safe ways to celebrate the holiday season with those we love, and I know this new drive-thru light show is Lisle, IL is something I am definitely adding to my family's holiday to-do list!
For the last seven years, the Morton Arboretum, which is located just over an hour away from Rockford in Lisle, IL, has hosted a tree lights event called, "Illumination". Thanks to COVID-19, this beloved event will still take place, but as a drive-thru experience this year.
Here's what you can expect at this year's event according to Morton Arboretum's website;
See trees in a different light at a reimagined Illumination: Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum. Designed with your safety in mind, this year’s new driving experience (30–40 minutes long) features an unparalleled spectacle of color, light, and music you won’t experience anywhere else.
