A man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Machesney Park on Wednesday night (4/2) has been identified.

According to a Winnebago County Coroner press release, the motorcycle accident happened around 7:15 pm with the rider reportedly losing control while traveling northbound on North 2nd Street, just north of West Lane Road.

First Responders Find Man Unresponsive on Roadway

Emergency crews from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office and Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department were on the scene shortly after the crash and found a man unresponsive on the roadway.

The man was treated at the scene and while being transported to a Rockford hospital but was pronounced dead early Thursday at 2 am, according to the report.

Autopsy Confirms Cause of Death

The deceased man was identified as 68-year-old Alan Leonhard, who died from blunt trauma to the head sustained in the motorcycle crash, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

Both the Winnebago County Coroner's Office and the Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash, but no further details have been released as of the time this story was published.
