A man riding a motorcycle died on Thursday night (8/7) after he collided with a vehicle in Cherry Valley.

Deadly Crash at 20th Street and Blackhawk Road

Around 6 pm last night (Thursday), Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies and the Cherry Valley Fire Protection District responded to a report of a serious crash at the intersection of 20th Street and Blackhawk Road.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they discovered a collision between a Honda Shadow motorcycle and a Mercedes, according to the report.

Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead at the Scene

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff's press release, the motorcyclist was the sole occupant on the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man pending notification of next of kin, but they did report he was 62 years old.

Investigation Ongoing

The Winnebago County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to the scene and is investigating the cause of the collision.

No other details were provided about the condition of the Mercedes driver or any potential contributing factors.
