Wisconsin M&M’s Recall Sparks Illinois Consumer Warning
There is news of a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recall of repackaged M&M's sold in Wisconsin and 19 other states in America.
While Illinois wasn't among the states on the list for the recall, the spillover between Wisconsin and the Land of Lincoln is obvious when you consider cross-border shopping, corporate events, conference handouts, and other promotional-type things where M&M's could change hands.

Why This M&M’s Recall Still Matters In Illinois
The issue concerns missing allergen warnings, not contaminated candy; the packaging fails to mention that the candy has been exposed to milk, soy, and peanuts.
The Real Issue: Missing Allergen Warnings, Not Bad Candy
The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, meaning the risk of serious harm is low but there is a potential for allergic reactions.
To determine what to look for, the recall is for small 1.3-ounce bags of M&M's in promotional packaging, which differs from the regular store-bought candy.

What you need to watch out for is if you happened to snag a bag of M&M's at a conference, at a hotel, or even at a promotional handout table. Those are the ones that are riskiest, for sure.
If you don't have a soy, milk, or peanut allergy, you are fine like anyone else. Be sure to check the lot codes before eating their promotional M&M's and look for these logos:
