Birthday Shenanigans in Wisconsin

My husband celebrated a milestone birthday over Memorial Day weekend, and when I asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate, his answer was simple: "I want to go shoe shopping and bar hopping with friends in Wisconsin".

Excuse me, what?

My husband wanting to go bar hopping with friends was not a surprising choice, but going shoe shopping? That one threw me for a loop that required more explanation.

By shoe shopping my husband meant driving to Black Earth, Wisconsin to visit The Shoe Box, about 20 miles west of Madison, stop for lunch, and then hit up bars in New Glarus and Mount Horeb on the way back.

Since shopping was on the agenda, I of course had to do a little research before we left, and let's just say I was pleasantly surprised.

What is The Shoe Box?

The Shoe Box in Black Earth, Wisconsin isn't your average shoe store, it's actually the largest shoe store in the Midwest that has two large buildings filled with shoes!
