If you haven't already, you might want to go see where you stashed your masks from a few months ago because it sounds like you might need them again soon.

On Tuesday, the Illinois Department of Health announced that they were adopting the Center for Disease Control's advisement to adopt masking guidelines for counties that are seeing "substantial" spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Winnebago and Boone counties are the two northern Illinois counties that are currently undergoing substantial spread of COVID-19. Carroll county is currently listed as high.

What constitutes substantial spread?

Mystateline - Areas of substantial transmission are considered by CDC to be those with 50 to 99 cases per 100,000 people over a 7-day period.  Areas of high transmission are considered to be those with more than 100 cases per 100,000 people over a 7-day period.  The community level of transmission can be found here.

The mask guideline is basically what you remember from the last time we had to wear masks. If you're going indoors, you'll probably need one. No capacity limits, yet, but social distancing might be something to be conscience of for a few weeks.

The guideline also suggests masks for all K-12 students, staff, and visitors to schools. There will be yelling about this.

Governor Pritzker also spoke today about the IDPH adopting the CDC's guidelines. The Governor says that he supports the decision and will not be issuing any executive orders until fully reviewing the guidelines from the CDC.

The delta varient is currently running wild and until the vaccination rate goes up or the transmission goes down, it looks like we're moving a step back in the Restore Illinois Plan.
