A man in Maine is not happy about with his neighbors or their garage that overhangs on his property.

Gabriel and Tracy Brawn loved their neighbors Steve and Theresa Ritter, who were the ideal neighbors. When Steve passed away in 2016, Theresa moved and began renting the property. The string of renters were not as nice to live next to.

At one point, the Brawns tried to purchase the property so they could end the headache, but didn't prevail.

The property dispute began when Gabriel put down some mulch to get his tractor up and down a steep grade. The son of Steve and Theresa told the Brawns "This is our property, get your stuff off it."

So they called a surveyor, who determined the Brawn's property line actually went up the center of the Ritter's driveway, and right through the middle of the their garage.

Ritter asked if he could grab his dad's ashes from the garage, and the Brawns allowed it, which begs the question; Who keeps their dad's ashes in the garage of a rental property?!

“We said, please do. We want our property back because we’ve been paying taxes on it for years,” Tracy Brawn said. “But he went over there and started throwing trash all over the place and smashing glass and taking bureaus and throwing them outside in the yard.”

So, the next day Gabriel went out to the garage with a Sawzall and carefully cut the half of the garage out that was on his property and erected a fence.

“We’re putting up a fence. Fences make good neighbors,” Tracy Brawn said. “That’s what we’ve learned from this.”
