It'll be a lot easier getting to IL-2 this weekend, but it's only temporary.

Illinois Department of Transportation is suspending all construction projects in the state to allow for easier Memorial Day weekend travel. While many construction projects are simply on hold, other areas will see temporary lanes and ramps reopened.

To help facilitate Memorial Day travel, IDOT is suspending construction and reopening lanes in work zones where possible.

Specific to the Rockford-area, construction on North Main Street, from Auburn Street to Riverside Boulevard will take a break but lanes will remain closed.

The major construction project at U.S. 20 and IL-2 will make many travelers happy when ramps reopen in all directions, albeit temporarily.
