A Large Section of One Major Rockford Road Will Be Completely Shut Down This Week
I apologize for being the bearer of bad news, but if driving on Mulford Rd. is a regular part of your daily commute, prepare yourself for some traffic headaches over the next few weeks in Rockford.
Illinois Construction Season Isn't Over Yet
Besides enjoying local apple orchards, changing leaves, and pumpkin patches, another added bonus of the Fall season is that the cooler weather signals that the end of road construction season is near.
I don't know about you, but any surprise snag in my morning routine will completely mess me up and make me late to work. One snag that always ruins my day is running into unknown road construction. So, to save you from the same kind of trouble, I have to let you know that a large portion of Mulford Rd. will be completely closed for the remainder of this week, and possibly beyond.
Major Road Construction is Underway on Mulford Rd.
Winnebago County Board Member Kevin McCarthy recently posted a warning on Facebook that said;
Beginning tomorrow 10/12 through 10/14 Mulford Road will be closed between Sandy Hollow Road and Harrison Avenue for culvert replacement.
McCarthy's post also said that even though the culvert replacement work should be done by this Friday, that same stretch of Mulford Road will be undergoing patching and resurfacing through at least November 11, 2022. While the road won't be completely closed anymore after this Friday, lane closures will put the brakes on the regular traffic flow, so it might be best to continue traveling an alternate route until all road work has been completed.
