Maddie & Tae have already challenged the status quo when it comes to country music, and now the dynamic duo is making history, too! After their hit 'Girl in a Country Song' broke into the Top 10 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, the pair became the first female-driven twosome to do so in seven years.

The last time a female duo landed in the Top 10 was Jan. 20, 2007, when the Wreckers impacted with 'My, Oh My.' Since then, the charts have been dominated primarily by solo female acts ... or the kind of songs that Maddie & Tae have fun ribbing on in their smash hit.

'Girl in a Country Song' pokes fun at those "bro-country" hits and the "super-smoking-hot girl" that's usually featured heavily in them.

"She’s always barefoot on a tailgate dancing in cutoff jeans and a bikini top," says Maddie Marlow. "We thought it would be fun to come at [it] from how we would feel being in those songs. We want to look good for these boys, but that’s not all we have to offer."

Although 'Girl in a Country Song' has received push back from some, if their new place in the Top 10 says anything, it's that fans are loving this song.

’Girl in a Country Song’ is the debut single from Maddie & Tae, off their self-titled EP, which hit stores on Nov. 4.
