Thanksgiving morning for many includes (lots of) coffee, cooking, a quick Facetime with distant family and friends, and the parade on TV. One thing that could be missing from the parade is the iconic balloons. For the first time in 48 years, there might not be any of those balloons flown in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. You can blame it on Mother Nature.

The National Weather Service is predicting dangerous winds along the East Coast.

The sustained winds do not exceed the regulations, but the gusts do. Officials will have to monitor wind conditions and decide whether to allow the balloons to be flown.(CNN)

This would be a huge disappointment in my house because it's the reason we watch the parade, not the bad lipsyncing. (I understand why they lipsync but it doesn't make it any easier to watch.) So when will they make the decision on whether to fly the balloons or not?

They'll likely have to make that call on Thursday, as wind conditions can quickly change.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade airs on NBC and CBS at 8 a.m. on November 28, 2019.
