Local Health Department Repelling Zika Virus
History is being made, and not in a good way in the United States. The Zika virus has made its way to the U.S. and the feds are warning travel to Miami. Now, the Ogle County Health Department is taking action.
Our news partners at WTVO are reporting that the Ogle County Health Department are starting to hand out "Zika Virus Kits"
Here are what the kits will include:
"Two different types of FDA approved bug repellant, and detailed information on how to protect yourself against mosquito bites."
This is a great idea since the Olympics start today. The reasoning behind the kits is simple. Spread awareness of the Zika Virus and keep people protected against mosquito bites. Of course, the bug repellant will be helpful in this area when we receive rain during the summer.
Does it mean that the Zika Virus is here in this area? Not at all. So, don't be concerned that these actions are being taken. If you are traveling to Miami, take all the necessary precautions. Wear long sleeves and long pants. Also, stay in air condition areas that protect you from the elements.
