Wisconsin’s Kwik Trip Named America’s Top Convenience Store

The top convenience store in America isn't the one most of us in Illinois and Wisconsin have been clamoring for.

Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip has been crowned the top convenience store in America, according to the 2025 American Customer Satisfaction Index, the only national cross-industry measure of customer satisfaction representing the U.S. economy, as stated on its website.

Why Illinois Doesn’t Have Any Official Kwik Trip Stores

There are zero official Kwik Trip stores in Illinois. However, there are Kwik Trip-affiliated locations that are called Kwik Star. The Kwik Star bannered stores can be found in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

The Difference Between Kwik Trip and Kwik Star

The name might be different, but it's essentially Kwik Trip. The reason Kwik Star is Kwik Star and not Kwik Trip is that QuickTrip was in Illinois first.

Inforum says, "Kwik Trip uses the name Kwik Star for its stores in Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, and now North Dakota because a brand called QuickTrip, spelled with a 'Q,' was in those states first and Kwik Trip decided to differentiate itself by using the name Kwik Star...Kwik Star stores are the same as Kwik Trip stores, "'Just with a different name.'"

Where Buc-ee’s and Other Chains Ranked

The biggest of the bunch, Buc-ee's, didn't even land in the second spot either. Sheetz and Wawa shared that. Then in the fourth spot was the QuickTrip, as mentioned earlier.

Buc-ee's pulled up in the fifth spot, noticing that their score dipped from a 80 to 79 year over year. Meanwhile, Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, whatever you want to call it, scored an 84 to run away with the title of best convenience store in America.

Should Illinois Get More Kwik Trips or a Buc-ee’s?

Now, tell me why we need a Buc-ee's in Illinois if we already have a Kwik Trip/Star within reach? Maybe we need more of those in Illinois?
