A late-night John Carpenter movie marathon is taking over an Illinois drive-in this weekend, and it's only for the grown-ups.

Not for Kids: A Grown-Up Movie Night at the Drive-In

While many drive-ins in the area gear their programming toward kids and families, this is one weekend when you'll probably want to leave the kids at home.

That's because Midway Drive-In, located in Sterling, about an hour southwest of Rockford, is going to go sundown to sunup in honor of one of the greatest sci-fi and horror masters in movie history, John Carpenter.

Four Classic Carpenter Films on the Big Screen This Saturday

Four Carpenter classics will be shown on the big outdoor screen at Midway this Saturday, starting with the legendary flick The Thing.

After that, the movie that flipped a genre on its head, Halloween. In between each flick, the Midway will show classic Carpenter trailers in 35mm.

Carpenter Deep Cuts You Rarely See on the Big Screen

While most of us have seen The Thing and Halloween, Midway wraps up their "Dusk to Dawn" event with Prince of Darkness and then finally Assault on Precinct 13.
