A handful of students from a school in Illinois were taken to a local hospital after they ate cannabis-infused gummies.

I remember when I was a teenager, my dad had this huge bottle of booze that his employees gave him as a joke gift for his birthday one year. It was so big, he kept it in the basement. That's where my friends and I hung out. Every once in a while, we would put some into our soda.

I can't remember what kind of liquor it was but that stuff tasted horrible. It was never enough for us to catch a buzz though I usually got a stomach ache after having some. The whole thing was pretty harmless since we were just dumb kids.

Nowadays, it can be a lot worse. Cannabis is legal in Illinois and many parents will have some in their house. Hopefully, any weed is safely hidden away from any curious kids in the home. These youngsters aren't ready for the effects of an infused gummy.

A student at Kilmer Elementary School in Chicago happened to get into his parents' stash of "special" gummies and brought them to school. They handed them out to some friends and that's when the problem started.

Three students who ingested the infused gummies ended up being sent to the hospital because of the effects of the edibles. Thankfully, everyone is going to be okay. I think those kids learned a valuable lesson. They should wait until they're old enough.
