A newly elected mayor in Illinois has personally invited both the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox to build new stadiums in his town.

I'm a lifelong Chicago sports fan. I can say one thing about the current situation with all my favorite teams, they suck. It's hard to watch. A couple of the organizations are making some good moves, so hopefully, that will change sometime soon.

Could Arlington Heights Be The New Home Of Two Chicago Sports Teams?

The only good sports news coming out of Chicago is that two of the teams are looking to build new stadiums. One of them is the Bears, and as a season ticket holder, I'm excited about that. A new closer location for the Sox would be cool too.

Since both teams made announcements that they are going to build new stadiums, nothing has really happened. The state isn't going to give them any money. I'm fine with that. The Bears are trying to put their new facility on the lakefront. That's not happening.

The Chicago Bears' first move was to purchase the former Arlington Racetrack property. The fans were really excited. There's enough land for an entertainment district, housing, and much more. There was even talk of a minor league ballpark.

Since then, the move to Arlington Heights has stalled. Both parties are playing political games. There is now a new mayor of the town. He has set his sights high. The guy has now invited both teams to build in his town. That's a great move by him. I'm all for it. This is far from over, and we'll see how it works out in the end.

According to Fox 32 in Illinois, "Arlington Heights Mayor-elect Jim Tinaglia expressed interest in bringing the Chicago White Sox to the suburb, in addition to the Chicago Bears."
