Bodycam Video Shows Tony Romo’s OWI Arrest in Wisconsin

Newly released bodycam footage shows the traffic stop that led to former NFL quarterback Tony Romo's OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) citation in Wisconsin.

Romo was arrested on July 23 after cops stopped him for unsafe passing on the right and observed him crossing a marked no-driving area.

The Initial Stop: High-Speed Pullover and a Trip From the Golf Course

The former NFL quarterback told the deputy he was coming from the golf course and heading to see his grandparents. When asked how many alcoholic drinks he had, Romo replied with "Zero." Deputies noted Romo had red, glassy eyes, smelled of booze, and had small airplane bottles of alcohol in his bag.

Apparently that wasn't good enough, as Romo took three different field sobriety tests, including eye-tracking, a one-leg stand, and then walk-and-turn. Romo was later asked to take a preliminary breath test (PBT), to which he refused, saying lawyers had advised him to never take one.

The Roadside Investigation: Field Sobriety Tests and Breathalyzer Refusal

The Cowboys legend was also asked if he ever experienced any head injuries, and he took a long pause, looking like Romo was about to tell them he played in the NFL. Based on the video, it doesn't appear he ever played that card.

The QB-turned-broadcaster got charged with an OWI, and since Wisconsin treats first-time offenders as a civil traffic offense, it was not a criminal charge. Romo's court appearance is scheduled for September 21.
