Illinois might not have the nosiest neighbors in America, but that doesn't mean we're not concerned with what our neighbors are doing every once in a while.

You'd be lying if you said you didn't like a little bit of juicy drama in your life - not necessarily your own drama, but someone else's.

How many times have you been in your backyard, heard you neighbors having an intense conversation, and you were so tempted to inch a little closer to the fence to hear the full tea?  My mom would always use me as a pawn haha.

Well, like the rest of us, AllStarHome got a little too curious and did some detective work to find out where the nosiest people in America are living.

Here Are The Nosiest VS. Least Nosy Neighbors In America

Michigan (90), South Carolina (87.8), and Kentucky (85.2) have the nosiest neighbors, while New Mexico (59.8), Minnesota (64), and Washington (68.2) have the least nosy neighbors.

• 2 in 5 Americans have neighbors who show up unannounced
• 1 in 12 have a neighbor who go through their mail/packages
• 2 in 5 say they've looked up their neighbors’ property value
• 1 in 7 look up our neighbors’ jobs online
• 3 in 10 have looked up their neighbors on social media

I am 100% guilty of doing... all of these.  How can you not be interested in other peoples' lives when we have access to so much information living in a digital age?

Here's how I justify being nosy: We aren't "technically" trying to invade anybody's privacy, we're just trying to stay in-the-know about everything happening around us - that includes all of us in Illinois.

Illinois Falls Short Having The 'Nosiest Neighbors' in America

So, we didn't make the top 10 (phew!) and we're not the least nosy...  Illinois ranked #17 with a nosiness score of 78.7.

Based on individual cities, Chicago actually ranked #8 on the list of "Least Nosy Neighbors" with a score of 77.2, beating Indianapolis, New York City, and Denver.

Now for the real question: How are you going to handle your overly-curious next door neighbor next time they try to invade your space?
