Rockford Attraction Is One Of The Best Places To Visit For Fall in Illinois
With all the rainy days we've been having, I've started looking into all the fall festivities approaching since the warm weather doesn't seem to want to stay around much longer.
After looking for corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and delicious cider donuts near me, I stumbled upon this list that had 14 of the best things to do in Illinois this fall. They don't just talk about things to do, but places to see if you're wanting to admire the leaves changing and take in the crisp, brisk air.
One thing listed was actually a Rockford attraction! This place not only is a great place to take the kids, but the entire family can have picnics in the grassy area, walk through nature and learn about Rockford's history at Midway Village.
Midway Village Museum & Bike Path
"Midway Village Museum, collects, preserves and interprets the diverse history of the Rockford region and is committed to educating and enriching our community by providing high quality exhibits, programs and events." - Midway Village
The bike path connected to Midway Village is gorgeous during the fall. My parents always bring their bicycles here because there's limited parking, but a lot of quiet spots throughout the park.
Between the museum and the bike path, the Millhouse is notorious for being one of the most popular Homecoming and Prom areas in town. The Millhouse also reminds visitors how water used to power manufacturing, super cool!
During fall, you'll see a lot more wedding photoshoots, too. Just imagine the beautiful photos you can get with all the leaves changing color!
I remember going to Midway Village for field trips in elementary school. These were so fun because we got to see almost 30 historical structures that used to be in Rockford like a general store, police station, hospital, and schoolhouse. It's interesting for groups of all ages!
If you're interested in visiting Midway Village anytime soon, fall is the time to do it! The vibes hit different and it's a nice quick trip to get out of the house. Find more info here.
