3 Scary Driving Moves Only Rockford People Do

Yeah, I'm gonna say it... Rockford people are some of the most terrifying, gutsy and aggressive drivers I have ever seen in my entire life.

I've been here for nearly 2 years, I'm from Iowa. In Iowa, we barely go over the speed limit and we definitely don't make some of the courageous moves that Illinoisans do. After becoming an Illinoisan, these are 3 of the things that make my heart drop while driving and that I need to have a conversation with you on. Cuz it's BAD!

1 - People Who Go 50 MPH in a 30 MPH Zone

OMG, this one makes me rage. I don't know how or why this is a thing, but it absolutely is. I will purposely be the butthead who drives the speed limits in these zones to "teach people a lesson." The speed limit's there for a reason folks, and probably a good one. Watch out for it!

2 - Racing The Yellow Light

We're all guilty of this, but Rockford takes it to a whole new level. I've seen too many accidents, especially on Alpine, with people trying to race the yellow. Take it easy pal and kick back. Enjoy the ride. It'll be green again soon, I promise.

3- Gutsy Winter Driving Moves

We just had some pretty horrible weather. Horrible enough to genuinely make me cry and have a panic attack, but nonetheless BAD. I gasp at people's very courageous driving moves with all the ice and snow. Still trying to race the yellow lights, still hitting brakes abruptly, still going 50 in a 30. It's pure insanity

Drivers... Do Better, Please! - Love, A Former Iowan

I'll be the first to admit, I drive like a grandma. So much so that my grandmother literally told me that! I'm more than sure I've irritated you with my driving, haha. But I just like to be mindful, take my time and play it cautiously. But I also love to cruise around The Stateline too just for fun, so maybe that's why.

It's not just me who gets frustrated driving here though, these intersections make Rockford people absolutely furious.
