88-Year-Old Wisconsin Grandma Has Emotional First Ever Flight
Do you remember how old you were when you got to fly somewhere for the first time? I was in middle school when our family visited relatives in California. That first takeoff in a jet felt like blasting off into space! Some people wait much longer to fly for the first time, including a grandmother from Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Grandmother Flies For the First Time
88-year-old Frances Dahlke had never ridden in an airplane before. But according to People, she got to cross that off her bucket list on February 8th when she boarded a flight from the LaCrosse Regional Airport to Chicago. What finally got her to board an airplane after all these years? The pilot, of course!
A Promise to Her Grandson
People reports that Dahlke committed to finally flying when her grandson got his pilot's license. And Alex Shupe did just that, and was able to pilot his grandmother on her maiden voyage in the sky! He even pulled a few strings and got her upgraded to first class!
More Family Members Join the Flight
Shupe got to pilot not only his grandmother for the first time, but also his parents and brother, according to People. It was the first time they had flown with Alex, too.
Dahlke also told People that she got to cross another item off her bucket list. She took Dramamine for the first time ever! No one wants to be sick on their first flight!
