Iowa is Only Home to Four of the Top Ten Burger Chains in the U.S.

International Burger Day is coming up this month, and the perfect way to mark the occasion would be with a delicious burger from one of the best burger brands in America!

Thanks to the folks at Yelp, we have a definitive list of the burger chains with the highest reviews in 2025. The article reads:

"To celebrate International Burger Day on May 28, Yelp compiled a list of the top 25 burger brands in the U.S. These brands have more than 100 locations, operate in multiple states and are primarily categorized under “burgers” on Yelp."

Here are the top ten chains for 2025, as well as where they can be found:

The Top 5 Burger Chains in the Midwest

Here in the Midwest, the lineup looks a little bit different. The top five for our region include:

1. Culver's
2. Shake Shack
3. Five Guys Burgers & Fries
4. Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
5. Wahlburgers

Wahlburgers is the only one on the list that didn't make the overall top ten, but it did make the top 25, coming in at number 15. Unfortunately, all Wahlburgers here in Iowa have closed since the chain ended its partnership with Hy-Vee earlier this year. Remaining Midwest locations are in Illinois, Minnesota, and Ohio.
