Illinois’ Best Burger Packs 13 Ounces of Beef and 4 Bacon Slices

I've heard it said that size doesn't matter, but I'd argue that when it comes to burgers, it doesn't hurt. What many consider to be the best burger in Illinois adheres to that fact with a whopping 13 ounces of beef topped with 4 bacon slices, but that's just part of the story.

To be clear, this isn't my personal list of what I believe is the best burger in Illinois, but the new declaration just made by Cheapism. They decided to look at the best hole-in-the-wall burger options that are worth the detour and their choice for Illinois is a popular (and large) one.

This is the famous Chicago Burger from the Illinois Bar & Grill on 47th Street in Chicago. Their burger creation starts with 13 ounces of beef (almost exactly) and features 4 strips of bacon which they prepare along with all the other condiments on the grill with the burgers. Genius.

Other than the massive size of the Chicago Burger, Illinois Bar & Grill's creation was chosen because of the dive bar vibe that this burger joint includes.

Burgers and all other food are subjective opinions. I've never been to the Illinois Bar & Grill since I rarely brave the busy streets of Chicago, but if you're willing to take the detour like the new ranking suggests, you likely won't be disappointed by the burger on your plate and you definitely won't leave hungry.
