1 Illinois Company Just Laid Off 365 in 4 Different Places?
This is a large number of Illinois people who just learned they are jobless. According to documents filed with the state, one Illinois company just let 365 workers go from 4 different locations.
I saw not one, but four new WARN notices posted on the Illinois Work Net job site today and they all originate from one company that reportedly affects four different cities in the state. According to the posting, Compass Group has laid off a total of 365 workers at these locations. Numbers from each location included.
- Compass Group - 333 N. Madison St. Joliet, IL 60435 - 144 laid off
- Compass Group - 7435 W. Talcott Ave. Chicago, IL 60631 - 109 laid off
- Compass Group - 355 Ridge Ave. Evanston, IL 60202 - 76 laid off
- Compass Group - 77 Airlite St. Elgin, IL 60123 - 36 laid off
It appears that Compass Group is a food service company and their press release page has no mention of the WARN notices that were just shared by the Illinois job site. According to the WARN notice, all locations have the layoffs effective two weeks from today on February 1, 2025.
As this is a developing story, it will be updated if an official statement is released by the company to see what the context of these layoffs are and if they are temporary or permanent elimination of jobs.
