2 Illinois’ Buildings Make the Most Ugliest List
Not every building that gets constructed turns out to be a beautiful piece of architecture. Some, well, just don’t add much to the city or town they’re in. And while Illinois is home to plenty of stunning architectural designs, there are also a few that are, frankly, just plain ugly.
A list of the ugliest public buildings in America includes not one, but two right here in Illinois. Interestingly, both are courthouses. Now, I don’t necessarily think courthouses need to be fancy or upscale when it comes to design, but maybe that’s exactly why these buildings ended up on the list.

Peoria County Courthouse
This building ranks at number 37 on the list. There aren’t any specific details explaining why it was cut, other than the fact that it’s just a plain building with nothing particularly fancy about it.
Winnebago County Circuit Court
Another just plain building. Again, I don’t think courthouses are meant to be beautiful or fancy. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are places in America with impressive, ornate courthouses and circuit courts, but in Illinois, not so much.

Again, Illinois is home to beautiful skylines and buildings, and the Chicago skyline ranks as the second-best view in the country, after New York, of course. But not every building can be as stunning as the Wrigley Building or Willis Tower.
