New Reality Dating Show ‘Ring By Spring Break’ Will Focus on Single Christian College Students
The old adage, "ring by spring" is getting a reality show makeover with a new series called Rink by Spring Break. The show is set to premiere on Hulu.
What Is Ring By Spring Break?
The new dating show will piggyback off of the stereotype that some college students are more interested in getting engaged before graduation than receiving their degree.
While some call this "ring by spring" — meaning you will receive an engagement ring before spring commencement — others say, "Oh, she's getting her MRS degree", meaning she's getting her title of wife.
This is fairly common at religious institutions like Brigham Young University in Utah and Baylor University in Texas, but it has been known to sneak its way onto campuses of other universities and colleges.
How Will Ring By Spring Break Work?
Per Deadline, the show will feature Christian college students enjoying spring break in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. But rather than enjoying a carefree week like most students would, they must find love before their time on the beach is done.
The show will document the struggles of dating in an environment filled with temptations — not to mention, the extremely short timeline.
The showrunner of Netflix's Love Is Blind, Sam Dean, will serve as the showrunner. Fremantale - the group behind American Idol - will produce it.
Hulu Is on the Love Train
Ring by Spring Break is just one of a few love-centered shows that Hulu is producing. The streamer recently launched Love Overboard with 22 singles living on a luxury yacht. Not only are they looking for love, they are also working as crew on the boat.
Hulu is also home to The Bachelor franchise including the original format and it's many spinoffs, in addition to shows like Love Island USA and Are You My First?
While the show has been ordered by Hulu, a premiere date has yet to be announced.
