Best and worst of anything is such a subjective thing. One person's trash is another person's treasure, right? That being said, I've found what Instagram thinks are the most overrated cities in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa.

I saw this interesting map making the rounds on the Illinois sub-Reddit page. It's a map that originated with Matt Shirley on Instagram. According to his followers, these are the most underrated cities for each state. Note the (least?) favorites for Missouri, Illinois and Iowa.

In case you're having a hard time reading the fine print, for Missouri, it's St. Louis. Illinois' most overrated city is Naperville and it's Des Moines for Iowa. Interesting. Let's break that down.

St. Louis - I'm frankly surprised by this one. The reason is that the big city constantly seems to get slammed for high crime rates. Maybe his Instagram followers think the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team gives the city too much cred? Just guessing.

Naperville - This is also a surprise since Niche ranks Naperville as the #1 city to raise a family in America. Perhaps his Instagram peeps think that's too high of praise?

Des Moines - I have a lot of family that live in Des Moines, so I'll have to be careful with what I say here. I can say scientifically that Des Moines is a nightmare to drive in, but the people are nice?

Agree? Disagree? You can sound off on Matt Shirley's Instagram page if you have thoughts.
