Rockford Police are getting closer to apprehending a man who has been wanted for burglaries at hospitals in the city.

Man Wanted for Theft and Burglary at Hospitals in Rockford

Last week, the Rockford PD released photos of a suspect who was seen on security cameras when an apparent burglary took place on Friday, June 21 at UW Health Swedish American Hospital located in the 200 block of 9th Street.

The same suspect is also believed to be the same man involved in a burglary on June 13 at OSF Center for Health in the 5500 block of E. State Street in Rockford.

Suspect in Burglaries Identified But Not Yet in Custody

Rockford Police Financial Crimes Detectives were able to work with other law enforcement agencies and get information from the public to positively identify the man wanted in hospital thefts.

41-year-old Tory Tolbert of Gary, Indiana is being sought by the Rockford Police Department and is facing the following charges that were authorized by the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office:

  • Burglary (2 counts)
  • Possession of Another’s Credit/Debit Card
  • Theft (Misdemeanor and Felony)

At the time this article was published, Tolbert was not in custody.

Rockford Police is asking for information regarding the whereabouts of Tory Tolbert, and anyone with information should contact RPD by calling 815-966-2900 or remain anonymous by reaching the Rockford Area Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867.

In the press release, Rockford Police said the "charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law."
