Feeling Nostalgic During The Summer In Illinois

I absolutely love summertime in Illinois. It brings back great memories from when I was a kid. My friends and I didn't sit inside all day playing video games. Well, our parents wouldn't let us. I would wake up in the morning, eat some breakfast, throw on some clothes, jump on my bike, and go. I would leave my house early and not get home until dinner time. We would spend the day mostly doing whatever fun activity that seemed exciting at that time. Most of the time it included swimming, basketball, football, and more. There was definitely one sport we fit in just about everyday.

Baseball Was Our Summer To Go Activity

Our summer go to activity was baseball. Sometimes we had enough players to play a full game. Other times, we just work with what we had so that meant off the wall, right field out, or wiffleball. We made sure to use a field with a home run fence. It was the best time. My crew even tried to keep stats.

Having The Right Gear To Play Games

It wasn't an official league so we didn't have uniforms. Everyone just wore t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers. Most of the players had either a Cubs or White Sox hat. Back then it really wasn't about the name brand of the equipment. The gloves and bats always had signatures from Major League Baseball players on them. It was about which star was on your gear. I had a Bill Buckner mitt and thought that was pretty darn cool. He was one of my favorite players on the Cubs.

Getting Your Own Signature Baseball Gear

Of course, it was all of dreams to have our very own signature gear just like the pros. None of us were good enough for that. Now, that opportunity might finally be able to happen. Homewood Bat Co in Illinois will actually engrave your name into your very own special professional bat. The best part is it's made of wood. That's old school which I love. What a great present that would be for any baseball fan or player.
