
23-Year-Old Woman Dies After I-39 Crash in Winnebago County, Illinois
A woman from Illinois died from injuries she sustained in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 39 in Winnebago County.
Crash on I-39 Leads to Fatal Injuries
According to a press release from the Winnebago County Coroner's Office, the identity of a woman killed in a motor vehicle crash last week on I-39 has been revealed.

23-year-old Taylor Rockwell of Rockford was the victim of the fatal crash. The Coroner was called to a local hospital on Sunday, November 9, after Rockwell succumbed to her injuries.
Details of the Crash
According to a preliminary investigation, the crash occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, when Rockwell was driving southbound on Interstate 39.
Investigators say that she lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the northbound lanes, and was struck by a semi-truck.
The Illinois State Police and the Cherry Valley Fire Department responded to the scene, where they discovered Rockwell to be unresponsive upon arrival.
Medical Efforts and Ongoing Investigation
Emergency crews provided immediate medical aid before transporting her to a local hospital, where she remained under treatment for several days.

Despite life-saving measures, Rockwell was pronounced deceased at 11:35 a.m. on November 9. The coroner listed the cause of death as anoxic brain injury resulting from the crash.
The Winnebago County Coroner's Office and the Illinois State Police continue to investigate the incident.
