Looking for Love in Illinois and Wisconsin
February can be a tough month if you're single. It can seem like "LOVE" is screaming at you everywhere you go and everywhere you look thanks to Valentine's Day, but you shouldn't let it get you down!
If gifts and flowers aren't what you want most right now, but finding a special someone to spend some memorable time with is, a new Wallet Hub study says Illinois and Wisconsin are two great states to do exactly that!
Best and Worst States for Singles
When it comes to dating, I think most people would agree that the number of potential partners and exciting places to meet them are two very important factors for finding love. Lucky for us Midwesterners, Illinois and Wisconsin are full of both!
WalletHub recently conducted a study of 180 popular U.S. cities to determine the best states for singles in 2025. The findings were based on over 30 different factors, with some of the most important being:
- Percentage of singles in the area.
- Number of attractions and restaurants in the area.
- Average cost of a two person meal.
Thanks to popular cities like Chicago, Aurora, Madison, and Milwaukee, both Illinois and Wisconsin ranked high on the list for a few different reasons.
Best Illinois Cities for Singles
Chicago was named number 21 overall on the list of the best American cities for singles, most likely thanks to it's vibrant social scene, abundance of restaurants, and its convenient public transportation system. Chicago also ranked at number 5 for "Fun and Recreation" and number 80 for "Dating Opportunities".
The other Illinois city that made the list was Aurora which ranked at number 155 overall, and in the lower 100s for "Fun and Recreation" and "Dating Opportunities.
Best Wisconsin Cities for Singles
If you live in Illinois, you might want to set your single sights slightly north of the state line to Madison, Wisconsin because it ranked at number 7 among the best cities for singles in 2025! Just like Chicago, Madison has a vibrant social scene and plenty of cool things to see and do, but it out ranked the Windy City thanks to a more balanced ration of single men to women.
For "Fun and Recreation" Madison ranked at number 50, but it came in at number two for dating opportunities. Might want to adjust the mileage on your dating profiles now, and good luck!
