Illinois Treasurer’s “Unclaimed Money” Campaign is Real
I'm such a skeptic when it comes to "free" money or easy money because if it were a real thing we'd all be rich. This is one of those times where I was wrong about something, which has happened many times. If you're lucky, money could be coming your way.
I saw someone share a Facebook post from the Illinois Treasurer's office and did a quick search on the validity of having unclaimed money or property held by their office. It took about sixty seconds to learn this indeed a real program within the Illinois Treasurer's office.
The State Treasurer is holding more than 3.5 billion dollars in unclaimed funds for Illinoisans. The State holds these lost funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs.
There are a few steps involved but it could be worth your time. There are two URLs you're going to need. (It'll be easy and quick, I promise.)
The first: icash.illinoistreasurer.gov. The other is findmyfunds.com.

In less than five minutes I learned I have two checks that I am entitled two. They are less than $25 each but who cares, it's my money. Even more, a co-worker of mine discovered the beneficiary of a late relative has a handful of checks greater than $100 waiting to be claimed. If you can spare a few minutes of your day I would recommend visiting the Illinois Treasurer's website or findmyfunds.com.
