Are you looking for some rare finds or unique gifts for yourself or someone you love?

Then look no further that the Illinois Treasurer's Office auction that being held this week.

In this WREX report, Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs office announced that starting today through this Friday, December 4th the public is welcome to bid on items that came from unclaimed property, forgotten safe deposit boxes, or lost bank accounts that the state's office is made the legal custodian of.

Over 8,000 items, worth $70,000, are for sale at www.illinoistreasurer.gov. The items include rare coins, a 10 ounce bar of gold, vintage baseball cards of Mickey Mantle and Sandy Cofax and more.

"The auction items have been in the state's possession for at least 10 years and the proceeds from the sale are held until the rightful owners are identified."

Interesting, I had no idea the state did this.

Well it certainly would be helpful finding that unique gift for that hard to buy for person on your list, wouldn't though?
