Looking for work is tough enough, let alone trying to find work in an area that has high unemployment. The list is out of the toughest Illinois cities to land a job.

The February 2016 Illinois unemployment figures have been released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Belvidere ranks in the Top 5 for cities with the highest unemployment in the state.

Reboot Illinois did an analysis and found out what cities and town are particularly hard hit with unemployment.

TOP 5 Cities with Unemployment in Illinois (FEB 2016 / FEB 2015)

 

1. HARVEY                                12.5                 12.1
2. ROUND LAKE BEACH        11.7                 10.8
3. KANKAKEE                           11.4                 10.2
4. CHICAGO HEIGHTS            11.2                 11.3
5. BELVIDERE                           10.8                  9.2

Sadly, the figures rose when compared to the same time period in 2015, Nationwide unemployment is decreasing, but unfortunately from many Stateline communities, that is not the case.

In the Stateline, Boone county has the highest overall unemployment at 8.5% while McHenry and Lee Counties has the lowest at 6.5%
