New Security Rules Ahead of Sold Out Concerts at Illinois State Fair
Concertgoers headed downstate for the 2025 Illinois State Fair should be prepared for tighter security at the Grandstand this year, with new rules that you'll want to know about before heading to the show.
Updated Safety Measures at the Grandstand
As the countdown to the 2025 Illinois State Fair begins, organizers are rolling out new security measures aimed at keeping patrons safe, especially during the large crowds expected at the iconic State Fair Grandstands.
According to the press release, the Illinois State Police and the State Fair updated its entry protocols to ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone attending in Springfield in August.
Metal Detectors and Bag Checks Required
Starting this year, all Grandstand entrances will feature metal detectors and bag checks.
Fair officials have clarified no backpacks, duffle bags, or any bags larger than 14"x8" will be permitted inside the Grandstand area.
Prohibited items include weapons, pepper spray, fireworks, illegal substances, drones, and flammable materials.
Changes to Ticketing and Beverages
If you have digital tickets, you're strongly encouraged to download your concert tickets before heading to the State Fair gates, because Wi-Fi and phone signals could be spotty.
All beverages purchased at the Grandstand will be opened at the time of sale, according to the press release. No outside drink containers, including reusable cups and souvenir mugs, will be allowed inside.
