Illinois Restaurant Serves Up Nonalcoholic Martinis For Kids Like It’s Some Kind Of Joke
I love it when restaurants come up with new ideas, concepts, and food combinations. For instance, last weekend I provided music to set the mood for a birthday brunch at Abreo in downtown Rockford.
For this special event, Chef/owner Paul Sletten came up with this flavor explosion, cotton candy wrapped in bacon.
Another restaurant that is building quite the buzz in the Rockford region is The Pomodoro on E. Riverside Boulevard.
Three years ago Scott and Brittany Frank bought the restaurant Ciao Bella and a seed of an idea blossomed. Their first creative idea was turning this space from this...
... to this.
The restaurant has its own unique look and feels in the Rockford area. There are always people grabbing a drink or bite no matter what time of day when they're open.
If I were to suggest a few items from The Pomodoro's menu I would recommend the eight-finger cavatelli or a New York-style thin-crust pizza.
The Drink Menu, How Is That?
It's lengthy, there are a lot of options. Wine, a cocktail, a beer, it's all there for you, so are the martinis. How do you like your martini? Shaken? Stirred? Dirty? What about nonalcoholic?
The Franks have come up with another idea for its younger guests. Check out this video that popped up on their Facebook page.
Are the Franks that crazy? I mean it's a cute idea and all but you know this is going to bring the Karens out of hibernation in a hurry.
Truth be told this is not a real promotion, it's a fun little April Fools joke. The kid in the video wasn't drinking a martini, the promotion is just a goof, no harm no foul.
The Pomodoro, at 6500 E. Riverside Blvd., is open Tuesday-Sunday at 11 a.m.
