When you signed up for the class-action lawsuit against Facebook late last year, I'm sure you probably thought you'd get your payout by now.

I know I thought I would have already received a check.

Then again, it wasn't like I was sitting on pins and needles waiting for the money. The truth is, I like many of us, actually kind of forgot about the class action lawsuit against Facebook.

Yesterday it dawned on me, and I was like "Hey! Where is my check, Facebook?"

A quick Google search revealed we're going to be waiting a while longer, but it could be good for those of us that actually filed against the social media giant.

In case you forgot, a class-action lawsuit was filed in Illinois against Facebook alleging they broke the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

TechCrunch:

That law, the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), is a powerful state measure that’s tripped up tech companies in recent years. The suit against Facebook was first filed in 2015, alleging that Facebook’s practice of tagging people in photos using facial recognition without their consent violated state law.

Obviously, Mark Zuckerburg and the rest of the crew were willing to settle up, to the tune of $650 million, with the fine folks in the Land of Lincoln and it looked like we were going to get a check for $345.

Not so fast

Well, there are a few who objected to the ruling "over the calculations used to determine the attorneys’ fees" according to Pantagraph.

Pantagraph:

Illinois Facebook class member Kara Ross is seeking lower attorneys’ fees and a much bigger payout, according to Paul Camarena, her Chicago attorney.

The Illinois privacy law allows for $5,000 per person in damages for “intentional or reckless” violations and $1,000 for “negligent” violations of the statute.

The story goes on to mention that the objections will be heard in July with responses in August.

So if you filed suit against Facebook and live in Illinois, you could receive more than $345. We'll just have to wait it out.
