Nothing says, "Welcome to the neighborhood!", like an awkward moment with a new neighbor. It happens though and all we can do is laugh it off.

AWKWARD 'NEIGHBOR' MOMENTS

Surely you have experienced an awkward moment with a neighbor? I have a co-worker who had never actually spoken to one of her neighbors and when they finally did talk, she told them she was moving. It's like, 'Hey, nice to finally meet you... oh, and we're moving."

Another awkward moment is rushing trash to the dumpster in your boxers and slippers because you could hear the garbage truck rolling down the street... only to bumper into your neighbor while they were parking. Yes, that has happened to me.

As you will read in this Rockford resident's letter to the unknown new neighbor, it can be very embarrassing to be caught doing something innocent at an inopportune moment.

To the neighbor that walked by my house this morning. I’m sorry, it was just as awkward for me as it was for you.
Let me explain, I was stepping into my garage and got a cramp in my calf so I decided to stretch it quick using the concrete step while I pressed the button to open the garage. So there I was with hip out, one hand on my hip the other on the wall while my garage door slowly revealed the sassy position I was in and there you were with your dog, we made eye contact.
I felt I owed you an explanation, may this story somehow reach you. Also, nice to meet you and welcome to the neighborhood.
Hopefully, this neighborly note gets in front of the correct neighbor so they can laugh about it over beers and a bbq.

Is it me or does Rockford hate this 25 big things?

You've more than likely heard the old expression, "opinions are like ________, everyone has one." This list more than validates that expression.

Who came up with these unflattering nicknames for these Illinois towns?

It seems every town or city in Illinois has a different name. It's the derogatory name that locals use and noobs will soon understand. Some are pretty dirty.
