Charities all over the world were forced to cancel fundraisers in 2020, but this year, the parties are on and some of them, even bigger and better than ever.

One of those bigger and better parties is The Liam Foundation's first ever Gay-la.

Yes you read that right, a Gay-la, like a Gala, but way better obviously.

A little background on The Liam Foundation, named for Liam Burdick, it's a foundation whose mission is: to encourage, assist, heal and empower our LGBTQIA+ community through respect, advocacy and passionate hearts to promote thriving in society.

Friday, October 29, The Liam Foundation is hosting their Gay-la at The Hoffman House with the theme: Ballroom Extravaganza.

According to their Event Brite page, there will be Drag Queen performances, a silent auction, dinner, open bar cocktail hour and a ton of dancing.

Moana Lotte and her friends, J.J. O'Ryder and Kaprina Mirage, are performing at the Gay-la, which starts at 6pm and goes until 10pm.

Liam's mom, Phyllis Gallisath is the founder of The Liam Foundation which is the only LGBTQIA+ Resource Center in Rockford.

She hopes to bring awareness and resources to anyone who might need them, in memory of her son Liam and his death.

Our City, Our Story created an incredible video about Phyllis, if you have a few minutes today, take some time to watch this.

You can get tickets to the 'Gay-la' or donate to The Liam Foundation to show your support.
