Governor JB Orders U.S. Flags to Be Lowered on Friday (6/12)
Illinois residents will notice U.S. and state flags flying at half-staff on Friday, an order from Governor J.B. Pritzker.
Statewide Flag Order issued by Governor Pritzker
According to a notice distributed through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (IDCMS), all persons and entities covered under the Illinois Flag Display Act are instructed to lower flags at government buildings across the state.
The directive by the Governor serves as a mark of respect and remembrance for Calvin Holley, whose work with the Illinois Tollway contributed to one of the state's most critical transportation systems.
State officials have not released additional details regarding Holley's passing, but news reports showed that he was killed in the early morning hours of May 30 while on the job doing pothole repairs on I-294
