Illinois Fire Department Baffled After Finding A Totaled Car But No Driver
First responders never know exactly what their next call will entail. This weekend first responders in Boone County, Illinois experienced a unique circumstance. In fact, it left them scratching their head. The location wasn't specified but it doesn't matter, they're still wondering HOW.
On Saturday, July 9, at 4 a.m. Boone County Fire Protection District #2 was dispatched to US Route 20 and Spring Road. The call was related to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection. The mystery of what happened and how was about to become the question of the morning.
Boone County Fire Protection District #2 says Lifeline responded to the single-vehicle crash, which was a rollover. They say the vehicle almost struck a nearby house. Look at the photos of the scene. Do you think it would be possible to walk away from the crash unscathed? If you're thinking, "No way!", you're not alone.
When first responders arrived at the scene of the crash there was nobody in the vehicle. It appears as though the person took off on foot. How is this possible? Sure, airbags and a seat belt would be a good guess but with that much damage to the vehicle? Another angle of the totaled vehicle will prove the driver is lucky to be alive.
The comments on Facebook included guesses as far as what happened. Some question the driver's sobriety, others question how the person was able to walk away. One thing is certain, if the driver of this car literally walked away unscathed I hope they bought a lottery ticket.
