Many, many, many years ago, there were gas station attendants. You would pull into the gas station, they would come greet you at your car, top off the tank, and sometimes even clean your windshield. Then came the self-service station and gas station attendants became a job of the past, except in Oregon and New Jersey. Now Illinois could be helping them make a comeback.

House Bill 4571, which was introduced last week, states drivers in Illinois would have to wait for an attendant to pump their gas, according to WREX. If passed, the bill would go into effect January 1st of 2021.

Imagine the wait this is going to cause at gas stations around the state! We've all been at a gas station that was jammed with cars and others waiting for you to finish just to hop on your pump. Some third shift workers have to use self service because many times there isn't someone at the station but they can still do the credit card payment option. It feels like Illinois is trying to come up to a solution to something that wasn't even a problem. I do know that some people, who have disabilities, can still honk and have the person working help them and I understand the need to have someone available to help out those with disabilities, but I think making it so you can't pump your own gas is just crazy.

Should Illinois ban pumping your own gas? Tell me in the comments below.
