A Chicago Heights man has been arrested for leaving threatening voicemails to members of Congress. The 45-year-old man has been reportedly leaving similar voicemails brimful of "profanity, racism, and vague threats" since 2017, well before President Donald Trump lost the presidential election to Joe Biden in 2020, according to Chicago Sun-Times.

In February of last year, Louis Capriotti was questioned by the FBI. Capriotti admitted it was his voice in the messages and that his messages could be taken as "hateful and threatening." FBI agents warned to stop with the threatening voicemails or he would be arrested.

A few weeks after the 2020 Presidential Election the voicemail messages escalated further. One of the messages was Capriotti claiming he was a marine for nine years who had killed terrorists, which was proven false, according to Business Insider.

On November 18, he told a member of Congress from Michigan that he was a "nine-year Marine," had "killed" several "terrorists," and would "continue to kill them because that's what I am trained to do."

Last month, this took an ever more serious turn when Capriotti began directly threatening President-elect Joe Biden and the inauguration.

[if people] think that Joe Biden is going to put his hand on the Bible and walk into that f---ing White House on Jan. 20th, they’re sadly f---ing mistaken. We will surround the motherf---ing White House and we will kill any motherf---ing Democrat that steps on the motherf---ing lawn.

Even though the threat was made before the insurrection of Capitol Hill, the FBI did not take the situation lightly and arrested Louis Capriotti as his home earlier this week for "transmitting a threat", according to Chicago Sun-TImes.

As of this article, 15,000 troops for the National Guard are posted in Washington D.C. and the Washington Monument is closed until the Sunday after Inauguration Day. Reuters has reported the FBI has warned of armed protests in all 50 U.S. state capitals.
